Well, Damon's obliges, with a well-rounded menu of prime rib, steaks, barbecued chicken, juicy burgers and tasty salads. Even the kids menu will satisfy the pickiest little eaters this side of the Mississippi, with corn dogs, popcorn shrimp, and chicken fingers among the favorites. A great oceanfront location outdoor seating make for a sublime experience any time, and take out is available all day.

MYRTLE BEACH. You'll either love it or hate it, but you'll never know unless you try it. Extra large portions of typical American food ­ ribs, steaks, chicken wings, fried shrimp, buckets of fries and the like ­ is only half the story. The other half is the legendary service rendered by the saucy and energetic staff. Some folks say the servers are rude and disrespectful; others say, "Lighten up, it's all in good fun!" However you interpret it, you're sure to agree that Dick's has its own distinct personality. Check it out when you're really hungry and in a really good mood!

BROADWAY. The party of the crazy donkey? Maybe our Spanish isn't as good as it used to be, but if you're looking for good Tex-Mex in a fun and festive atmosphere, this is your place. The menu is loaded with all the favorites, from quesadillas and burritos to Mexican pizzas and fajitas. Great ribs and margaritas, too, and at lunch you can also get salads and interesting sandwiches. A solid choice whenever that craving hits for a little south of the border spice.

BROADWAY. Themed restaurants may come and go, but the NASCAR Cafe has a lot of appeal and staying-power, especially in the race-loving South. It's also extremely well-done and carries the theme from the decor right through to the all-American menu (Talladega Tenders, anyone?). The circular set-up is designed to recall a race track with various exhibits and attractions on the perimeter, making the experience much more than simply enjoying a good meal. Be warned: What was planned as a quick lunch may end up taking an entire afternoon! And don't miss the gift shop ­ very cool.
